Cain Arias is the most phenomenal seventeen-year-old in Crayton. He and much of his completely pacified nation have never seen their reflections, as all mirrors have been banned for the last seventy-five years.
After the elusive government tries and fails to recruit him, he discovers a hidden trove of secrets: both national and his own. Most importantly, he is the first birthed Mystique in three generations and he has mystifyed his girlfriend Luzia and life-long best friend Felix.
Ultimately, Cain is called to commit the first murder in his country’s two-thousand-year history, a murder of the Grand Mystique, Kaynivur, who holds more power than Cain may ever know.
